Welcome to Haven

We’re genuinely glad you’re here! On this page, you will find some information about inter-office workings, BUT what we want you to glean from this are our values, why we do what we do, and our workplace culture. We want you to understand our family so that you can feel comfortable being a part of it. So, let’s dive right in.

Who Are We?

Pamela Moyer is a Tallahassee Lassie, born and raised. Her background is in IT and Project Management, so she makes a lot of lists and manages all IT/website/software related issues. She’s a comic book nerd, a child raised on 80s movies, and she simply cannot live without music in her life. She also manages the business-y stuff (licenses, taxes, marketing, payroll, etc). She performs skincare and massage services at Haven, and as of 2021 has received her Integrative Health Coaching Certification from Duke University.

She’s an introvert by nature, but don’t mistake her quietness for coldness. She does a lot of juggling, and undoubtedly, there’s a whole whirlwind of ideas spinning in her head. You will see her when she’s working, but a lot of the work she does is from home. With an idea planted in her head, she opened Haven in 2016, and hasn’t looked back!

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide quality skincare and massage services and products to the Tallahassee community. Our goal is to provide professional services to our valued clients in a cozy setting, free from the chaos of the outside world. We aim to educate our clients on our services and products in order to best serve their needs, and to ensure the benefits of our services will continue throughout their daily lives outside of Haven Spa.

Another huge part of our mission is to provide job opportunities to others in the field of healing arts. We want to provide a working space for service providers so that those providers (you!) can focus on the work rather than the tiring minutia associated with business ownership.

Basic job info

Dress code: We’re pretty casual - no scrubs required here. BUT we do request that you wear plain colored tops and bottoms that are clean and undamaged. No logo tees (unless the logo applies to massage/skincare/healing arts), no ripped jeans. “Athleisure wear”, such as yoga pants and athletic tops, is acceptable so long as cleavage and bums are covered. If you decide to perform your services barefoot, you can take your shoes off once you get in the treatment room, and put them back on before you leave the room. You must wear close-toed shoes in the common areas of the spa - hallway, bathrooms, waiting and recovery areas, front desk. And please use proper hygiene. Come showered, groomed, clean, fed, and ready to work.

Paychecks: Checks are disbursed every Friday for the previous week. Your contract will reflect your pay.

Appointments: We require you to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment, fed, showered, and ready to work. This is so that you can set up the room, greet the client, and start your appointment on time. We give you 30 mins after the appointment to check out the client and provide any after care information. This info is also outlined in your contract.

Lunch: As a contractor, you can come and go as you please in between appointments, as long as your setup/cleanup work for the appointments is completed. We encourage you to eat BEFORE you come to work. We do have a mini fridge for meals or snacks, that will be emptied every Sunday. If you want to leave something in the fridge, mark it! Please, no eating in front of clients or while you have clients on the table. And for the love of all that is holy…no fish.

Atmosphere: We encourage a collaborative atmosphere. Our mission is to establish a rapport with our clients in such a way that they feel comfortable seeing anyone at Haven. We also have members who are happy to see anyone that is available at the time they want to come in. No one here is “stealing” clients. All clients at Haven are clients of Haven.

No-drama Llama says to leave your drama at the door. Having a bad day? Guess what…everyone does! If you need to spill your guts, we’re more than happy to chat about it over a coffee or a beer. Outside of work, we’re all about sharing the load, Mr. Frodo. But when you’re at Haven, your drama is checked at the door. We’re big believers in energy transference, and we want our clients leaving feeling lighter, happier, and more relaxed than when they arrived.

Chill, dude.

Chill, dude.

Customer Relations: Haven is a SAFE SPACE for our clients. Our clients are THE BEST. We are inclusive of all peoples, regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, physical ability, or age. As long as a client is a human being (18 years+, or with an accompanying adult), we serve them. We DO reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who makes us feel unsafe. We only provide legal and ethical services. We take this very seriously. Report malicious behavior to management immediately. Haven also serves as a SAFE SPACE for you!

Your Services: We encourage you to develop your own services that feature your talents. We promote our individual therapists regularly, and will be glad to offer your own specialized service that highlights your skills. Clients typically want to experience a variety of styles and experiences. Be creative!

Employee Discounts: As a thank you for your service, you get UP TO 40% off all retail and services at Haven!

The Devil is in the Details

When you receive your contract, you will also receive details about your responsibilities. We will also provide a digital version so you can check it wherever you are. Keep this documentation handy!

We really hope you enjoy working at Haven as much as we do. Welcome to our family!
